Youth [In] Ministry

A New Generation of Peacemakers.

Youth ministry for a new generation…

As people of faith who seek to follow the teachings and example of Jesus, we consider it to be our role, as the hands and feet of God, to help bring about the peaceable kin*dom here on earth. Through regular community gatherings, worship, and service-learning opportunities we will seek to promote peace and justice around us and around the world.

Youth [In] Ministry

Youth ministry here at First United Methodist Church is really about youth in ministry. As young people, we have ownership over the programs and service projects that we take part in. We avoid “for us without us” kind of planning. We team up with adult advisers and Pastor Rachel to create engaging, relevant, interesting, and meaningful ministries.

Young people these days need places where we can feel safe enough to take off the masks that we hide behind so that we can learn more about who we really are and go deeper into our faith and values. We need listening ears and challenging ideas from adults who treat us with respect so that we can learn to respect ourselves. We need opportunities to just be kids and have fun as well as opportunities to take on the world as the adults that we are quickly becoming.

This is youth IN ministry! It’s an adventure and a journey as we learn to walk in the Way of Jesus!

Find out more about our youth ministry groups:

  • Ripple is youth group for 5th – 12th graders, and splits into older and younger youth during each meeting. Ripple meets on Tuesdays from 6:00 – 8:30 PM. Ripple includes youth from other area congregations, too! We’re about creating the next generation of peacemakers!
  • Youth Sunday School, for 6th – 12th graders, meets on the second Sunday of each month in the Youth Office. Students will leave the worship service following the sermon. Class will end about half an hour after the worship service ends.
  • We also have several special events throughout the year: 30 Hour Fast, Service Week, Interfaith Youth Events, Service Projects, and Just-for-fun Events!

We would be delighted if you would like to join us for any of our Sunday School or Youth Group meetings or for one of our special events!

If you would like to be included on our email or texting lists, email Pastor Mark at
